For the first time on record, and certainly for the last 30 years, two Townsend rinks will compete against oneanother in the final of the District Fours. Bob Lawrie, Roger Potter, Peter Thomson and Peter Armstrong defeated opposition from Potters Bar by 19 -12, to join their colleagues who won against Welwyn last week.In the District Triples, the Townsend trio, of Mike Doherty, Les Perkins and Alan Charran won through to the final witha tight match against Welwyn Garden City, which they won by 17 -12.As part of both clubs' Centenary celebrations, Townsend welcomed 5 rinks from London Scottish. In the besttraditions of the fixture the actual result - a win for the Scots by 3 rinks to 2 - took second place to the celebrations, with the bar doing a roaring trade throughout.
